Val Goodrich 'Stray From the Middle' www.valgoodrich.com Columbia-based folk-rock/blues artist Val Goodrich scores with a strong album. Acoustic with vocals, reminiscent of early Melissa Etheridge - creative songs that catch your ear, solid musicianship and excellent recording combine to show off Val's voice and songwriting.
There are a few interesting things - most of the recordings along this line don't include banjo as an accompaniment instrument, and it's a sonic treat. The best part is that they don't over do it - it's like adding jalapeˆ±os to chili - know when to say when. Solid recording, and while it doesn't really throw out anything new or inventive, it's definitely a keeper. Check out www.cdbaby.com/cd/valgoodrich and buy the CD - you won't go wrong with this one.
